River Towns Plein Air (RTPA) is Lancaster County’s premier outdoor painting event spotlighting original artwork completed on location over an 8-day period in the historic Susquehanna River communities of Marietta, Columbia and Wrightsville PA. Sixty participating artists compete for $5000 in cash awards during the culminating juried exhibition and sale held at the Marietta Community House / Studio 264.  RTPA is organized by Marietta Art Alive!, the arts-in-action team of RIVERTOWNES PA USA, a 501c3 organization dedicated to cultivating art, heritage and recreation in the lower Susquehanna River Valley.

Marita Hines is a Lancaster County plein air watercolor artist and owner of MH Art Studio & Gallery at 42 W. Market Street, Marietta.

Marita founded Marietta Art Alive! in 2017 to promote the enjoyment, creation & awareness of visual arts in the lower Susquehanna Valley river towns through community participation, education, demonstration & exhibition.  The MH Art Gallery & Studio is the home for RTPA event planning and logistics carried out by local artists on the RTPA Team:   Marianne Calenda, Melissa Carroll, Susan Davitti Darling, Joanne McIlvaine and Linda Mylin Ross.
