RIVER TOWNS PLEIN AIR 2021

It's a Wrap!

A highly successful River Towns Plein Air Event drew to a close with many art sales, an exhibit of 200 works and the selection of prizewinners.  These were selected from entries created during the nine day "paint-out" that took place in Columbia, Marietta, Wrightsville and surrounding sites near the Susquehanna River. Plein air refers to working outdoors on site with no later additions or corrections. Artists from five states participated and commented on this area's historic charm and natural beauty.  The exhibit was held in the newly renovated Studio 264 behind the Marietta Community House.

The juror was Julie Riker, a well known plein air artist herself who chose the following winners:

First Place: Jay Dombach, Brownstown for "Counting House"

Second Place: Dorothy Hoeschen, Riegelsville for "Marietta Grain Facility"

Third Place: Linda Mylin Ross, Marietta for "Patio at Zimmerman House"

Fourth Place: Russell Slocum, Wyomissing for "A Trail of Two Bridges"

Newcomer to Plein Air Award: Melissa Carroll, Lancaster for "All Lined Up"

Honorable mentions were awarded to Beth Bathe, David Finnell, Susan Nicolas Gephart, Lisa Burger Lentz and Nicole Waltman.
